Description
Soften Any Spot in Your Garden with this Versatile Grass
Sand Cordgrass is an evergreen, bunch-forming grass that you’re seeing more and more of as gardeners learn of its versatility and low maintenance demands. Its narrow leaves grow quickly to about 4 ft. tall. The plant tends to be greener during summer, and brownish-green in winter. Unlike others in the Spartina family, Sand Cordgrass puts forth a flower in autumn.
Though it is native to the edges of lakes and canals, it also thrives in dry, sandy soil. It loves full sun, has a high salt tolerance, and is drought resistant once established. Many gardeners use it as a border, or to provide transitions between wet and dry areas.
