HARDY & HANDSOME, INDOORS OR OUT
The Chinese Fan Palm, or Livistona Chinesis, is a wonderful addition to your outdoor landscaping. Native to southern Japan, Taiwan, and areas of the South China Sea (hence the name), it’s perfect for warmer climates, and thrives in just about any type of soil. It does have flowers, but these are often hidden within the crown. The tree usually grows from 15 to 25 ft. Its dwarf version (often used inside shopping malls) makes a lovely choice for your inside spaces.
If you’re considering planting a Chinese Fan Palm in an outdoor spot that gets lots of bright sun, we recommend you choose a more mature plant. Younger plants do better with partial shade. If you’re hoping for faster growth, make sure to give it lots of moisture, (though it will survive in drought-like conditions).
