Description
Year-Round Blooms Offer Color to Count On
The Mexican Honeysuckle has bright orange tubular flower clusters that will delight you – and the hummingbirds – all year long. The shrub grows 2 to 3 ft. tall, and spreads from 3 to 6 ft. wide. Its soft, velvety leaves will become larger in partial shade. But, of course, some sun is needed for best flowering.
The plant is not related to other honeysuckles, though there are some visual similarities to explain its namesake. This perennial is fairly drought tolerant, but will flourish with watering during dry spells. Happily, it’s not at all fussy about soil, as long as there is adequate drainage.
