Jade Plant Bonsai, Portulacaria afra

The jade plant is also called Elephant Bush, because it’s a favorite food of elephants in South Africa, where the plant originates from. They make excellent, low maintenance houseplants. They require very little water and thrive in brightly lit spaces. Jade plants can be grown in lower light areas but they’ll end up stretching a bit. These pretty plants have jade-green leaves and green stems which turn red to brown as they mature. My specimens have been trained and trimmed to beautiful bonsai shapes and are about 3ft tall.
