Scientific Name: Coccoloba diversifolia

Common Names: Pigeon Plum, Tie Tongue, Dove Grapes

Overview: Coccoloba diversifolia, commonly known as the Pigeon Plum, is a versatile and attractive tree native to the coastal regions of Florida and the Caribbean. This medium-sized evergreen tree can reach heights of 20 to 40 feet, with a dense, rounded canopy of dark green, leathery leaves that vary in shape and size, giving the tree its name “diversifolia.” The leaves are often glossy, creating a striking contrast against the tree’s smooth, light gray bark. In late summer, Pigeon Plum produces small, fragrant white flowers that develop into clusters of purplish-black, berry-like fruits, which are loved by birds, especially pigeons.

This is my second tree. Makes a beautiful shade tree.

I wanted an evergreen tree with heavy foliage to shade off an area of my front yard. I love the deep green color of the leaves. This tree is going to be a beautiful addition to my landscape.
