I have about 75ft on my exterior wall that I am thinking about putting in a low hedge. How many large pot size clusia would I need?

2 years 7 months ago

Hi Ronald! You should need about 1 every 3 feet. So about 25 would be needed as a rough estimate.

Can this plant be grown indoors? I am in zone 5.

2 years 4 months ago

Hi Susan, Yes! They make excellent indoor houseplants if you are in an area too cold for them! Be mindful if planting outdoors they enjoy more warmer zones and you will need to be overwintered indoors when the cold season begins.

We live in zone 9a, north Florida, can we put this in a pot out on our lanai?

2 years 3 months ago

Hi Nancy, Yes! These do best in Zone 10, though you can keep one in a container in Zone 9B to move indoors during cold weather.

Can you make a hedge out of these plants?

2 years 1 month ago

Hi Cindy! Yes, Clusia Guttifera are customer favorite this plant makes a nice barrier, or border and is often used as a hedge. This plant is low-maintenance and trouble-free, they do branch out close to the ground and can get very wide. They make excellent privacy hedges as they mature as well as large accent plants for the landscape.

Can this plant survive next to a neighbors fence

1 month 5 days ago

Hi Sunshine, yes it can but it also depends on the weather in your area. Clusia hedges grow in USDA zones 10 and 11. This means that the minimum outdoor temperature for Clusia plants is between 30°F and 40°F. But the best minimum temperature for Clusia hedges is 50°F which is about the average temperature for Miami in winter.
