YOU’LL LOVE THE TEXTURE OF THIS DROUGHT-TOLERANT FERN: BIRDS LOVE ITS BERRIES
The Foxtail Fern (also referred to as an “Asparagus Fern”) is a beautiful perennial that showcases white flowers in late spring and summer. Small in stature – no more than 3 feet high at maturity – the Foxtail Fern will thrive in conditions ranging from full sun to full shade, indoors or out. Birds love to eat the Foxtail’s berries. It’s wonderfully low maintenance and drought tolerant. (Many gardeners do trim the plant back during the winter months.)
You may find these plants in floral arrangements or along boarders of a garden. Foxtail ferns tend to continue to grow on its own because of self-seeding and birds that transplant the seeds throughout a wide area.
