An At-Home Apothecary That’s a Perfect Accent – Indoors or Out
Aloe Vera or True Aloe is one of the most widely used medicinal plants on the planet. It’s been grown across the world for thousands of years. You need only break open the tips of its leaves to access its cooling gel for treatment of minor burns, rashes or skin irritations. Some folks even use the gel for a refreshing face mask.
Native to the southwest Arabian Peninsula, Aloe Vera is actually a drought resistant succulent. Its vivid green white-spotted leaves are wide and smooth with toothed edges. When the plant reaches maturity at about 3-4 years, it may produce a bright yellow flower. An Aloe prefers well-drained soils, but you’ll find it relatively low maintenance. If indoors, make sure to place the plant in a sunny spot with lots of bright light.
